It helped him so much that he was awarded three Michelin Stars, a sign that this is precisely the path he had to take, despite the stormy beginnings. And luckily today things have changed, there is no longer as much severity in kitchens as before. But precisely because of his beloved job he ended up sleeping in his car, kicked out of his home. How come?

Antonino Cannavacciuolo he is the son of art. His father was also a chef and teacher at the hotel school. And precisely for this reason he did not want his son to take the same path, aware of the great sacrifices necessary. TO Set of the Courier he said that when he decided to confess that he too has a passion for cooking, he replied: “If you want to do this job, do it, but you have to be sure that you are driven by a true passion. Otherwise you will suffer a lot.”

And it’s really true, the passion. Strong, irresistible. “I have never stopped even for a moment since then” he has declared, “It has been a long, very long journey, in which however I never stopped building and testing myself. Because the truth is that this is not a job but it’s my life“.

The chef’s misadventures

A life spent in the kitchen, he says Antonino Cannavacciuolo, but it doesn’t bother him. Yet the beginnings were very difficult. As we have seen, at not even 14 years old he is already working and making sacrifices. Obviously he wasn’t put in the kitchen straight away. He tells: “The first assignment was open the eggs: break them, separate the yolk from the white, whip them for vanilla ice cream. I opened 800 eggs a day, to make 50 containers of ice cream to put on the fruit salad and wild strawberries. In the end there was the kitchen to wash, the floor to be swept, the warehouse to be emptied. Then they switched me to the hams”.

Heavy tasks for such a small boy. So much so that he reveals: “I got a fever from the fatigue, and my father sent me to sleep in the car; only once did he take me to hospital because my legs were swollen like hams.”
