The fresh chef of three Michelin stars and beloved face of Masterchef, recounts his career, the beginnings, the difficulties encountered. And also the beatings he took.
In fact, they ask him about the blows he took when he was 14, blows given him by the chef he worked for: Cannavacciuolo he came home with blue arms, full of bruises. And in short, how did he go on? “I ended up blown up at night, but I’ve always wanted to do this job. My mom wanted to protest. My father, on the other hand, answered like this: If he gave them to him, it means he deserved them. Now that chef would be arrested for mistreatment. In the end it worked for me. Those beatings were formative”, admits Cannavacciulo.
So they ask him if it was true that as a young man he often slept in the car. And the chef confirms: “Yes. I was a bit rebellious and if I didn’t respect the time my father had given me for my return, he didn’t open the front door and I had no choice but to get back in the car and lie down in the back seat. No problem”.
Then the confessions on TV: did he really not want to do it? “Yes. I felt like I didn’t have the right qualities and I was afraid of wasting time. My wife convinced me “.
