It turns out that Antoni Macierewicz appeared at the school, not at the invitation of its principal, but with one of the local government officials. What he did primarily incriminates him – said Deputy Minister of Education Katarzyna Lubnauer (KO). KO MP Adrian Witczak announced a parliamentary audit. Deputy head of the PiS club Mariusz Błaszczak said in turn that Macierewicz’s words “are arranged in a historical context and spoken in a historical context”. At the inauguration of the school year in one of the schools in Tomaszów Mazowiecki, the PiS politician spoke about the “Smolensk crime, in which the entire Polish national elite was murdered”.
Antoni Macierewicz, former head of the Ministry of National Defense in the Law and Justice government and chairman of the now defunct Smolensk subcommittee, spoke on Monday during a speech at the Tadeusz Kościuszko Secondary School Complex No. 1 in Tomaszów Mazowiecki about the “Smolensk crime, in which the entire Polish national elite was murdered”. The speech by one of the most controversial right-wing politicians was delivered on the occasion of the inauguration of the school year. Witczak: We must say firmly “enough”
– Today we must say firmly: enough. Say that school is not a place for political propaganda and lies – Adrian Witczak, a member of parliament from the Civic Coalition, told TVN24.
He announced that he would “prepare a parliamentary audit to check whether the starosty also exerts influence on principals and teachers”. – We already know that there were also activities underway to oblige teachers to make students participate in patriotic ceremonies in which politicians took part – added Witczak.
Lubnauer: It’s outrageous
Deputy Minister of Education Katarzyna Lubnauer (KO) assessed that “even if he is a local or national politician, he should devote September 1 or 2 this year to wishing children a good new school year, to extend wishes to teachers, and not to engage in politics”.
– We asked the Łódź superintendent. He looked into the matter. It turns out that Mr. Macierewicz did not come there at the invitation of the school principal, but with one of the local government officials. We pointed out that such things should not happen – she said.
– What Mr. Macierewicz did is primarily incriminating to him, because he was the one who acted arbitrarily, because he abused an invitation to the school that he did not even have and used it for political purposes. It is outrageous – she assessed.

Błaszczak: words are arranged in historical context
The head of the PiS club, Mariusz Błaszczak, was also asked about Macierewicz’s statement at a press conference. – The school year begins on September 1. In 1939, the Germans attacked Poland, on September 1. The Germans arranged with Russia, the Ribbentrop-Molotov Pact, then on September 17, Soviet Russia attacked Poland. So these words are arranged in a historical context and spoken in a historical context – he said.

Macierewicz spoke to students about the “Smolensk crime”
Antoni Macierewicz appeared on Monday, September 2 at the Tadeusz Kościuszko Secondary School Complex No. 1 in Tomaszów Mazowiecki. At the ceremonial gala to mark the beginning of the school year, he was presented as a politician who established certified, military uniformed classes, which were later transformed into military preparation units. Students at the Tomaszów school were also informed by school representatives that it was Antoni Macierewicz who made it so that military classes have “appropriate funding.”
Shortly afterwards, Macierewicz himself took the floor. The politician began by referring to the 85th anniversary of the outbreak of World War II. – It reminds us of the genocide that was carried out by the Germans mainly against the Polish nation together with Russia, there would be no world war – said the PiS politician. Then he referred to August 1980, emphasizing that the protests organized at that time created “traditions of defending Poland, shaping Poland, regaining Polishness, national Polishness, Christian Polishness”.
Then the former head of the Ministry of National Defense moved on to the tragedy of the presidential plane on April 10, 2010: – These traditions must be a point of reference for all of us, but especially for you, for the students, for understanding what is happening now. A symbol of this time, symbolized on the one hand by the Smolensk crime, in which the entire Polish national elite was murdered in order to make the Russian-German alliance possible – said Macierewicz.
The second, as he said, “terrible event that is ongoing to this day is the war in Ukraine”: – These are crimes committed in an attempt to seize the Ukrainian state in order to be able to attack Poland and destroy Europe – the politician noted.
One of the local councillors said in a conversation with TVN24 reporter Piotr Borowski that “we have been hosting Mr. Macierewicz here for 6 years”. He added that “he comes to all the celebrations, he is invited by the starost”.
