– Very flattering to get this opportunity. In HV 71 there are the conditions to do something well and it will be my task to create a high-performance environment in everyday life, says Anton Blomqvist.
The 34-year-old coach comes from the same role in AIK in the hockey Allsvenskan and has signed a two-year contract with HV 71.
– Anton is a modern coach who has done incredibly well for several years with AIK. He has the profile we were looking for with high standards, a strong drive and great commitment. We are convinced that Anton has the tools required to take HV 71 to the next level, says Andreas Davidsson, acting chairman of HV 71.
Anton Blomqvist has a playing background as a back in, among others, Malmö, Oskarshamn and the Malmö team Pantern. In 2017, he began his coaching career in Malmö’s junior team and in 2020 he took over AIK in the Hockey Allsvenskan.
HV 71 makes another change on the leadership side when Fredrik Stillman returns as assistant coach to Anton Blomqvist. The duo has worked together during the past season in AIK.
– Anton and Fredrik have worked well together in AIK and have an equal view of hockey. Fredrik knows the club well from before and has a passion for the association with his big HV heart. Fredrik also brings a lot of experience to the coaching quartet, which is valuable, says Andreas Davidsson.
The reorganization means that Johan Lindbom leaves his position as head coach and the same applies to assistant coach Per Gustafsson.
– We have a dialogue with both Johan and Pelle about the future. We don’t have anything ready at the moment and may come back with more information in the future, says Andreas Davidsson.
From before, assistant coach Johan Davidsson and goalkeeper coach Joel Gistedt have contracts until 2025.
The contract with Anton Blomqvist and Fredrik Stillman is valid for two years.
