Antivirus tycoon John McAfee’s autopsy reveals cause of death

Barcelona

John McAfee, founder of antivirus company McAfee, was found dead in a Spanish prison cell. There is a strong suspicion that he committed suicide and now, the results of the initial autopsy are out.

An autopsy on McAfee’s body led to early conclusions that he had indeed committed suicide, moments after a court ruled he would be extradited to the United States to face a tax evasion lawsuit.

The results of the autopsy have not been received by the McAfee family, where recently, his wife believed the United States government had a hand in his death. They asked for a second autopsy from an independent party.

A source familiar with John McAfee’s death said he had prepared a note in his pocket before committing suicide. However, as quoted detikINET from News.com.au, the contents of the letter have not been published.

John McAfee who founded an antivirus company in his name a few days before committing suicide defended himself that he was targeted and would be sentenced to up to 30 years in prison.

“If I am extradited, it is almost certain that I will spend my whole life in prison because the United States wants to use me as an example,” he said, in one of the last photos taken at the time, looking well and healthy.

The 75-year-old has been jailed for five months in Spain and is acting well, with sources even calling him a role model for other inmates. He did not get any sanctions and lived a normal life in prison.

In his final moments, John McAfee alone in his prison cell at around 4pm. His cellmate was not there. Then at 6pm, officers found him hanging himself. Help was tried to be given, but his life could not be saved.
