New complaint to the Antitrust and prosecutor’s office against Chiara Ferragni. Codacons announced it, explaining that, after the Balocco Pink Christmas case, it is the “‘Oreo’ charity operation involving Chiara Ferragni”.
In particular, the consumer association would be interested in the edition of a 2020 capsule collection advertised on social media by the Cremonese entrepreneur with “messages aimed at the public” in which, we read in the complaint, “it was stated that one hundred percent of the proceeds from the sales of these clothes would go to charity for initiatives against the Coronavirus.”
Now Codacons is therefore asking for a verification, through the complaint, of the data, the methods of allocation of the donations received and the use of the funds collected. All through “an access request to the confectionery company aimed at having all the data regarding the solidarity campaign started with the influencer”. For Codacons, in fact, the relationships between the Oreo company and Chiara Ferragni are unclear. These would essentially be commercial relationships. As evidence of these different commercial relationships, there are many posts on Instagram in which Ferragni talks about Oreo products: they all contain the words “Adv” or “advertisement”. While on the products on sale it was stated that 100% of the proceeds from sales would go to charity for initiatives against the Coronavirus
Meanwhile, the Milan and Cuneo prosecutors are continuing their investigations into the Pink Christmas pandoro case: and Codacons has apparently collected over 250 reports from consumers who purchased the pandoro only because they thought they were doing charity and contributing to the donation to the Regina Margherita. Ferragni and the president and CEO of the confectionery company Alessandra Balocco are under investigation on suspicion of aggravated fraud.
