Antibodies that children make against cold viruses also work against the coronavirus

“Such a spine consists of two parts that perform different tasks,” explains George Kassiotis, author of the Francis Crick Institute study.

“One part ensures that the virus can attach itself to the cells in our body. That part of the spine differs from coronavirus to coronavirus. The other part works like scissors that have to cut open the human cell to let the virus in. And that part is the same on different viruses. Our study shows that the spines on cold viruses are so similar to those of the coronavirus that caused the pandemic that antibodies against those cold viruses also work against that coronavirus. ”
