Rescuers at seaAntibes (Alpes-Maritimes) call for solidarity. Antibois volunteers from the National Sea Rescue Society (SNSM) want to buy a new boat to complete their fleet, reports France Bleu Azur.
Currently, lifeguards have a 17 m long boat. Very solid, the ship can intervene in all situations and whatever the weather. But getting it out requires the presence of at least six people. However, the SNSM is made up exclusively of volunteers.
135,000 euros to collect
The presence of a sufficient workforce is therefore not always guaranteed, especially during the week. The sailors therefore had the idea of investing in a smaller boat, faster, operational at all hours and which could also perform rescues near the shore or in the port of Antibes.
Charlie Stiit, 24-year-old volunteer and captain of the star, therefore launched an online jackpot at the end of August to ask Internet users for their help. The boat that rescuers covet costs € 135,000. More than € 17,500 have already been raised.
