Jimmy Lai, the owner of Hong Kong’s anti-match media company Bin Fruity, was charged with violating the Hong Kong National Security Law on the 11th.
The Hong Kong Police said in a statement that day, “a 73-year-old man was accused of putting national security at risk by collusion with foreign or external forces.”
Police did not identify the man, but Hong Kong’s private television TVB reported that the man was Jimmy La, citing an anonymous source.
Jimmy Lai is the most prominent of those prosecuted since the Hong Kong National Security Law came into force in June. The trial is scheduled for the 12th, and you can face the highest life sentence.
Tony Chung, a student activist who was arrested for violating the Hong Kong Security Law in October, was convicted today (11th). He was convicted of contemplating the Chinese flag and participating in an illegal assembly, and a sentence is expected to be sentenced on the 29th.
