“To date, 36 sick people have been identified in Dimitrovgrad, while the reference center has officially confirmed 17 cases of measles,” Ekaterina Moroz, deputy head of the interregional department 172 of the FMBA of Russia, deputy chief state sanitary doctor for the city of Dimitrovgrad, told ulpravda.ru. “In total, ten foci of this infection have been recorded, one has already been eliminated, nine remain.”
As Ekaterina Anatolyevna explained to us, all necessary anti-epidemic measures are being taken in all outbreaks.
“In accordance with the requirements of sanitary rules, contacts are being monitored, as well as vaccination of unvaccinated people,” explained Ekaterina Moroz.
Some patients with measles are being treated in Dimitrovgrad, in the infectious diseases department of Clinical Hospital No. 172 of Branch No. 2 of the Federal State Budgetary Institution FNKTsRiO FMBA of Russia, others were sent to medical institutions in Ulyanovsk. So, in the New Town, on Vracha Surov Avenue, in the city clinical hospital of St. Apostle Andrew the First-Called there are now five young patients from Dimitrovgrad.
“All the children are representatives of one gypsy family,” Fira Sayfutdinova, chief epidemiologist of the Ulyanovsk region, told ulpravda.ru. “They are isolated in the hospital in separate boxes and receive the necessary treatment. At the same time, the diagnosis of “Measles” has been laboratory confirmed in only one child. Blood was taken from the remaining four children on October 16: tests for the presence of measles infection in the patients’ bodies were sent to Nizhny Novgorod, to the reference center. The results haven’t come yet.”
All the medical experts we interviewed said that the most reliable way to prevent infection is vaccination. And they urge everyone who has not yet received this vaccination not to hesitate and to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
