AvtoVAZ is preparing to start production of the new Lada with a shortened list of equipment – without “complicated” electronics, airbags and other elements for which there are not enough components.
It has now become known that the first “anti-crisis” Lada Granta will be released on the assembly line on June 6. According to Atypical AvtoVAZ, production is planned at an accelerated pace: the installation will be carried out in two shifts of eight hours each.
From June 6, the plant will introduce a four-day working week. According to the optimistic scenario, 10,000 simplified “ladas” will come off the assembly line in just a month. However, if AvtoVAZ faces problems due to a shortage of parts for such cars, about 3,500 cars will be produced in June, experts predict.
After Granta, Niva (Legend and Travel) and Largus have to go “under the knife”. If there are no problems, the production of similar versions of the other two models can start in the second half of June. The “anti-sanction” Vesta will join them in the autumn.
Lada Granta will be produced in two versions: the first will not receive any equipment for increased comfort, and the second will receive an electric power steering and electric windows. Both options will be without ABS, navigation and airbags, and the eco class of the engine will be reduced from Euro-5 to Euro-2.
Such a Granta is expected to receive a minimum price of 600,000 rubles (8,400 euros or approximately 16,400 levs). To date, the recommended retail price of the model starts at 727,900 rubles (10,200 euros).
