«Finally we leave. The moment we have been waiting for months, the coronavirus vaccination, has arrived. From today on the portal of the Puglia Region, health and social health workers will be able to join the vaccination campaign. Phase 1 will begin in the first days of January, when the health workers and guests of the health and social health residences will be vaccinated on a voluntary basis. Soon after, with the arrival of the new batches of vaccine, we will proceed to vaccinate the other sections of the population. Puglia is ready ».
This was stated by the councilor for health, Pier Luigi Lopalco, in communicating that the manifestations of interest aimed exclusively at social health personnel, for the administration of the first doses of vaccine against Covid, are open from today on the portal of the Puglia Region.
Health and social health personnel are the priority category for anti-Covid vaccination, according to the Strategic Plan drawn up by the Ministry of Health with the Higher Institute of Health (ISS) and the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA). The immunization of the populations affected by the pandemic is in fact possible only through a widespread and widespread vaccination campaign that must start from those who work “on the front line”.
Why get vaccinated. In the initial phase of limited availability of Covid vaccines, the people to be vaccinated as a priority are health and social health workers. In fact, these are the most exposed to infection, they can transmit it to fragile patients and their health is necessary to keep the health system stable. Therefore, the personnel of accredited public and private structures, general practitioners, pediatricians of free choice, who will be vaccinated together with the guests of the health and socio-health residences, adhere to the first phase of administration.
How to join. While waiting for the national information system under construction for booking, registration and reporting of vaccinations, you can join by filling in the online form of the Puglia Region. The module aims to collect expressions of interest to optimize the vaccination offer. Membership is free and voluntary, and is not binding. The subjects adhering to the vaccination will subsequently receive from the ASL all the necessary information on the characteristics of the vaccine for the purpose of signing the Informed Consent, necessary before administration of the same.
Where to get vaccinated. In the initial phase of the vaccination campaign, management is centralized: the vaccines are administered in the identified hospital sites, with the support of mobile units depending on the membership. In Puglia the employment of about 230 doctors, nurses and socio-health workers dedicated to the administration of vaccines is expected. There are 27 referents, 11 administration points and 15 days scheduled for the first 95 thousand vaccine doses. As availability increases, the vaccination campaign will be extended to involve the local vaccination clinics as well. Membership must be made by December 20, 2020 at midnight in order to have priority access to the start of the campaign. However, the platform will remain open until 31 December 2020.
