Ahmady walked along Iran’s mountainous border to escape the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.
An Anglo-Iranian anthropologist sentenced to nine years in prison in Iran on Wednesday reported to the British press how he managed to escape on foot from the Islamic Republic, through the mountains, to reach the United Kingdom and start a new life.
“I made a backpack with a hygiene kit, some books and a computer,” said the dual-national scholar, identified as Kameel Ahmady, in a statement to the British public BBC station, reporting on his illegal escape, of rocky outlines, Iranian territory.
Ahmady walked along Iran’s mountainous border to escape the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, a route he described as “too cold, too long, too dark and too scary”.
