Anthony Joshua, Boxing | Unsick with shock victory against Joshua

Anthony Joshua lost all his World Cup belts in heavyweight against Ukrainian Oleksandrj Usyk.

It was a very exciting showdown between the two heavyweights at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Saturday night.

After twelve tough rounds, it was finally Usyk who shocked the boxing world and won deservedly on points. All three judges agreed that the Ukrainian was the best (117-112, 116-112 and 115-113).

Started best

Usyk started the match aggressively and got in several good hits with his left in the first rounds. Joshua fought back in the 4th and 5th rounds, but never managed to find out from his Ukrainian opponent.

The Ukrainian showed his technical qualities and mobility throughout the match and the Englishman failed to get the decisive blow.

In the last round, however, Joshua was close to being beaten down by Usyk, who eventually ran away with Joshua’s four world heavyweight titles (WBA, IBF, WBO and IBO).

Usyk is a former world champion in cruiserweight, but has taken the step up in heavyweight and impressed a lot against Joshua on Saturday night.

The Ukrainian believes he will only rise in the future.

– You have not seen the best of Usyk. I can get much better, Usyk says to DAZN after the match.

Returning?

Joshua is entitled to a return match and promoter Eddie Hearn suggests that it will be highly relevant with a return match as soon as possible if the English heavyweight has not been injured in Saturday’s settlement.

Joshua seemed to have pain in his eye after the settlement and did no interviews after the match.
