Anthony Ginting’s Back Pain Since the 2020 Thomas Cup Final

Anthony Sinisuka Ginting back in the first round Denmark Open 2021 because of injury. Apparently he had a backache since the Thomas Cup final last weekend.

After the 2020 Thomas Cup, the Indonesian team had to immediately shift their focus to the Denmark Open without having a long break. The event, which was held at the Odense Arena, started on Tuesday (19/10/2021).

Anthony is one of those prepared by PBSI to participate in the three back-to-back tournaments that took place in Europe. Unfortunately, the world number 5 player was unable to continue the tournament due to an injury to his waist.

As a result, Anthony who was facing Thomas Rouxel (France) on Wednesday (20/10) decided to withdraw when trailing 1-4 or when the game had been running for 2 minutes.

“Actually, I felt a bit of pain in my waist during the Thomas Cup final match. And yesterday there was a two-day break, I tried to recover but maybe two days wasn’t enough,” said Anthony in a statement sent by PBSI.

“So I decided to withdraw from the Denmark Open match,” he added.

The Head of the Sub-Division of Sport Science Development/Physical Coach of PP PBSI Iwan Hermawan said that the pain in Anthony’s waist occurred because his muscles had worked too hard.

“So if there is a rotational movement, Anthony feels pain in his waist. He has been checked by a doctor and physiotherapist, his muscles are overused after the two tournaments yesterday,” said Iwan.

Prior to appearing at the Denmark Open, Anthony Ginting down in the Thomas Cup and Sudirman Cup. Of the two tournaments, Anthony was recorded only twice did not appear. When Indonesia faced Canada in the preliminary round of Group C Sudirman Cup and when it faced Algeria in the preliminary round of Group A Thomas Cup. Meanwhile, the rest of the players, who just celebrated their 25th birthday yesterday, have often played in 8 matches in the two tournaments.
