Birmingham

Anthony Ginting must acknowledge greatness Viktor Axelsen in the quarterfinals All England 2022. Ginting did not move so he lost two straight games.

Ginting challenged top seed Axelsen in a match at Utlita Arena Birmingham, Saturday (19/3/2022) WIB. The fifth seed from Indonesia gave up with a final score of 4-21, 9-21 in just 34 minutes.

The defeat worsened Ginting’s meeting record with the Danish badminton player. This is the tenth meeting between the two players and Ginting bagged four wins and six losses, including in the last four meetings.

Viktor Axelsen is now entitled to advance to the semifinals as well as approaching the second All England title in his career after winning it two years ago. Next he will meet the winner of the match between Chou Tien Chen and Jonatan Christie.

Ginting couldn’t do much against the Tokyo Olympic gold medalist. After a 2-2 position in the first game, Axelsen easily won the points and then left Ginting with a score of 7-2.

Ginting closed the gap by getting two additional points, but after that he was unable to stop Axelsen until the end of the first game.

In the second game, Ginting was again behind since the beginning of the game. Axelsen raced with a 4-0, then Ginting moved closer by grabbing the first two points. However, Axelsen did not give Ginting a chance to develop his game to lead 11-4 in the second interval.

Axelsen continues to hold control of the game. Ginting had no power to stop the opponent’s momentum until he was only able to get nine points.

In the doubles, the Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin pair failed to follow the other three Indonesian men’s doubles to the semifinals. Leo/Daniel lost to China’s men’s doubles He Ji Ting/Tan Qiang in a three-game battle 21-15, 16-21, 14-21.
