President of the United States Joe Biden and the head of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin plan to hold a meeting in the coming weeks. It can take place in Iceland.
This was stated by the US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken in an interview with the Icelandic state television and radio company RUV… The day before, as you know, in the capital of this country, Reykjavik, he met with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
“The United States would be happy to have stable, predictable relations with Russia … It is likely that our presidents will meet in the coming weeks,” the head of the State Department said.
On his own behalf, he added, they say, he recommends Iceland as a potential meeting place for American and Russian leaders and, in general, for such diplomatic events.
“I would definitely recommend it as a meeting place. I would recommend it to everyone, and by the way, this is what I will do when I get home,” Blinken added.
Note: On May 19, the US Secretary of State and the Russian Foreign Minister at the talks in Reykjavik discussed the “Ukrainian question”… Blinken expressed “deep concern over the prolonged deployment of Russian troops in and near Ukraine,” and said that the United States was ready to respond to Russian aggression.
