AC Milan player Ante Rebic get additional sanctions after the red card. Some said it was because of Rebic’s words which linked the referee’s mother to prostitution.
Rebic was played as a substitute when Milan lost 0-1 to Napoli in Serie A last weekend. He came on for Rade Krunic in the 60th minute, when the Rossoneri were a goal down, hoping to add more force.
However, that hope was far from coming true. Instead of breaking into Napoli’s goal, Ante Rebic had to leave the field faster. He messed up in injury time and got a red card.
Ante Rebic is reported to have insulted referee Fabrizio Pasqula, whose decisions he considered were always detrimental to AC Milan. The court court refused to accept it and immediately issued a red card.
It doesn’t stop there, Ante Rebic then also get sanctions from the Italian League Disciplinary Committee. According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Rebic was suspended for two matches. Rebic was judged guilty for ‘showing an expression of disrespect that is disrespectful to the referee in the 47th minute of the second half’.
Mentioned by SportBible, who quoted informazione.it, Ante Rebic had uttered inappropriate sentences to referee Pasqula regarding the insult of prostitution, “I saw your mother became a prostitute in Naples.”
As a result of these sanctions, Ante Rebic now unable to play in AC Milan’s next two matches in Serie A, namely against Fiorentina and Sampdoria. He could only be played again when his team went on an away match against Parma (11/4).
This is also not the first time the 27-year-old footballer has stumbled into trouble due to his remarks to the referee. While still playing in Frankfurt in 2019, he was sent off for railing against the court. At that time he was sanctioned by UEFA for a five-match ban.
