Jakarta –
PT Aneka Tambang Tbk’s ferronickel plant project or Antam in East Halmahera became the spotlight of several members of Commission VI of the DPR. This is because the project, which is almost finished, has not yet received electricity.
Member of Commission VI DPR PDI-P faction Sondang Tiar Debora Tampubolon questioned this. He said it was ridiculous.
“Regarding the nickel smelter, which was said to be not working due to electricity reasons. I want to ask a question when planning, I think, I’m sorry, this is very ridiculous,” he said during a hearing between Commission VI and Antam’s President Director Dana Amin, Thursday ( 2/12/2021).
As a technical person, he said, in order to establish industry, resources, human resources, energy and technology should have been prepared.
“If you don’t have one of them, it’s impossible for the project to run. I want to ask why, is there no power, if it can’t be supplied by PLN, what kind of feasibility study is there, are there other energy sources, hydropower plants or so on?” ,” he said.
The same thing was also expressed by a member of Commission VI of the PAN faction, Abdul Hakim Bafagih. He was surprised that this electricity problem was not finished.
“It’s also ridiculous that the electricity problem hasn’t been solved for 3 years. The 2019 target has not been completed yet,” he said.
“From the explanation presented earlier, it was only September 2022 because we are waiting for the relocation of the gas power plant and it is still a discourse, hopefully it can be sooner than that,” he added.
