Antal Rogán: tourism contributes to the strengthening of the country’s economy

Antal Rogán recalled that the past years were not easy for tourism, 2019 was the last “year of peace”. After the pandemic, the domestic tourism sector had just restarted, when it lost many foreign guests, even from more distant countries, due to the war that started next door. Foreign tourists have already started to return, but now the sector will lose those Israelis who also visited Hungary in large numbers to rest, he said.

At the same time, the minister emphasized that

the Hungarian tourism sector performed well in 2022 and 2023, in 2022 it produced much better numbers than in 2019, and according to the data so far this year is also better than 2019.

The fact that the program aimed at renovating the country’s rural accommodations was launched in 2018 proved to be careful planning, he pointed out.

As part of the program, 85 new rural hotels will be built or renovated. 600 boarding houses in the country were also renovated, and around 13,700 individual accommodation providers received support, which meant the renovation of more than 40,000 rooms for rent.

– explained Antal Rogán. He added that the new Békésszentandras hotel was also completed within the framework of the program.

At the handover, Béla Dankó (Fidesz), the region’s parliamentary representative, among other things, drew attention to the fact that the M44 expressway is being built with an investment of HUF 426 billion, which, together with the related road sections, will ensure access to the market for businesses in the area and new businesses for about 175 kilometers. , as well as the arrival of tourists here.

He emphasized that

the iconic building of the area, the old carpet manufactory, has been renovated, the hotel creates 40 jobs and can provide work for many businesses in the area.

The representative pointed out that Békés County has a large amount of thermal water, the spas are also a great attraction for guests, and new spas will be able to be renovated with government support.

Antal Barna, CEO of Körösparti Nyár Plusz Zrt., explained: the building was renovated faithfully to the old traditions and quality. The amount of the investment is more than HUF 4 billion net, the renovation would not have been possible without the nearly 50 percent tender support, he said.
