LONDON – Around 66 million years ago, dinosaurs ruled Earth, but after a large asteroid hit Earth they became extinct. But only
crocodile which to this day still survives.
As reported by Coversation, scientists think three-quarters of all types (species) of animals that once lived on Earth have been wiped out, including most of the dinosaurs.

But some managed to survive for various reasons. One group of dinosaurs managed to escape, aided by their ability to fly and find food in distant places.
Their fur protects them from the cold, and their beaks enable them to eat buried seeds found near dead plants.
Amazingly, these dinosaur survivors are still with us today. We call them birds!
Crocodiles are another group known to have survived asteroids.
They are clearly flightless, hairless, and do not eat grain! But they have another trick to success.
First, the crocodile’s body requires very little energy. They often lie down, breathe slowly, and even have a very slow heart rate.
