During the fourth edition of the ‘Cinema in Las Sierras’ Festival, the public was able to enjoy and learn from this creative technique in the town’s cultural center.
The little ones enjoyed the workshop on the Stop Motion technique given by specialists.
With the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, the ‘Cinema in the Sierras’ Festival was held in San Francisco del Monte de Oro, an initiative of the producer and director Ricardo De La Vega Taillant, head of the production company ‘Tailu Documentales’ that had an excellent reception. One of the proposals that there was was a workshop on the ‘Stop Motion’ technique or volume animation, also known as frame-by-frame animation.
The festival began on Thursday the 3rd and extended until Saturday the 5th at the theater of the San Francisco del Monte de Oro Cultural Center, with free admission. In addition, it had a prestigious jury made up of Becky Garello, Héctor Massi, Julián Moldawsky and Gabriel Blasco.
“25 local, national and international audiovisual productions were presented, with proposals from Mapuche tales and stories, of women who fight, dramas, comedies, for adults and teenagers. Also highlighted was the screening of animated shorts at different times for the little ones, followed by the Stop Motion workshop, led by guest directors Javier Luna Crook, Sebastián Cone and Bela Tagliabue. It took place in two shifts, in one day, with the presence of more than 30 people in each shift, which filled us with joy, so one more day of workshop was added,” said De La Vega Taillant.
The Stop Motion technique is one of the oldest in animation. It consists of manually moving an object and photographically recording each of these movements to then create a sequence that, when passed at a certain speed, forms the illusion that the object moves under its own power.
“We are grateful for the institutional support and highlight the great satisfaction of viewers with the varied audiovisual themes presented. It was a festival with different perspectives to fill our hearts,” he expressed.
