ANSL » The municipal choir of Unión recorded at Casa de la Música

The group, made up of girls, boys and adults, traveled to the cultural space and recorded songs of their own and national artists.

Adults also had the opportunity to leave their recordings.

Starting with the new management led by Governor Claudio Poggi, the House of Music of Villa Mercedes begins to have a purpose that includes all San Luis residents. On this occasion, this idea was supported with the visit of the municipal children’s and adult choirs of Unión, to leave recordings of their own musical pieces and those of renowned national artists.

In total, almost 30 singers traveled from the south to take advantage of the opportunity. “The little ones recorded a ‘Night Song for Taiel’ and the older ones recorded two more songs, one of them shared by both choirs, which are of regional authorship. The lyrics and music were composed by artists from Unión, who transmit their love for their people, their customs and longings,” said Paola Martínez, director of the municipal choir.

The little ones from the choir called ‘Sueño de Colores’ showed nerves at the beginning, but as they got used to the space it went away. “The technicians were very good and what went wrong didn’t bother them. They had a mix of emotions: knowing a new place, new people, the instructions we had been working on in class, the anxiety that it would turn out well. They are very happy to have been able to make this trip and to see the coolest room in Latin America,” said Martínez, who added that “the adults also wanted to do excellent. I conveyed to them that the technical part of the classes was already incorporated and that it was a time for enjoyment.”

The Director shared some of the verses they sang and was moved when doing so: “’Walk its paths, walk its short streets, those that cradled my tender youth.’ They are verses that transport any of us to emotional memories of our people and place in the world. When we proposed to record, the decision was unanimous. The songs of the people first and if we manage to do something else, we’ll see,” he said.

The Unión delegation expressed that it was a dream come true to know the House of Music, its history and the function it plays in valuing the culture and art of the province. “Little by little we felt part of it, we understood that this is also ours and we were able to enjoy it. The kids are very grateful,” said Martinez.

“As an artist and teacher, in the moments when I was able to be alone with my emotions I was able to understand the magnitude of this experience. And when I had to support the students and work with them, I was able to take the opportunity to highlight so many details that we will use to implement in the workshop,” he noted, and finally he also extended his gratitude “to all the staff who received us with quality, warmth and professionalism. We hope that soon the House of Music will be able to open its doors to the entire country.”
