They added a Back to Back device, which serves as a solution in difficult terrain or where distances make the installation of traditional infrastructure difficult. The proposal includes the incorporation of a Wi-Fi antenna.
Information Highway staff installs the Back to Back system in San José de Los Chañares, to provide internet service to residents
The residents of San José de Los Chañares are already enjoying the free connectivity offered by the provincial government. The Information Highway (AUI) installed a point-to-point device called Back to Back (BTB) in this small area of the Pringles department, which is already operational and provides free wireless internet access.
The Science, Technology and Society Agency, which is in charge of the AUI, explained that the BTB device, which includes a Wi-Fi antenna, is a solution used in remote areas with characteristics that make traditional installation difficult. In this regard, they explained that the site is located in an area that presents complexity for the provision of the service, so interconnections and additional poles were required to guarantee coverage.
They also pointed out that as part of the intervention, they made improvements and repairs to the connection systems of School No. 208 ‘Directora Haydee Etcheverry de Sosa’ and the local health center.
“Thanks to the installation of the BTB system, both establishments now have internet and telephone service, improving connectivity and the resources available to the entire community. The initiative is an important step towards reducing the digital divide in rural areas,” the Agency stated.
