Hangzhou: Another Malayalee athlete wins a medal in Asian Games Athletics. Ansi Sojan won the silver medal for India in women’s long jump. Anxi produced a career-best performance in Hangzhou.
Ansi won the silver by clearing 6.63 meters in the fifth attempt. China’s Xiong Shiqi won the gold with 6.73 meters. In the finals for India, Shishla Singh had to settle for fifth place. Shayla’s best jump was 6.48m.
Ansi’s progress was 6.13 in the first attempt, 6.49 in the second attempt, 6.56 in the third attempt and 6.30 meters in the fourth attempt. The 6.63m jump in the fifth attempt also became a personal best for the star.
With this, India’s total medal tally has reached 59. 13 gold and 23 silver and bronze achievements in the account.
