Henk Krol wants to return to the House of Representatives. The 73-year-old former party leader of the elderly party 50Plus will be number 2 on the list of BVNL, the party of MP Wybren van Haga, in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
Krol entered politics in 2011 as a member of the Provincial Council for the elderly party 50Plus. Before that he was known as one of the founders of the Gay Krant.
In 2012, Krol was a party leader of 50Plus in the parliamentary elections. The party then won two seats. A year later, Krol left the Chamber when it turned out that during his time at the Gay Krant he had failed to pay the pension contributions for his staff.
Away from 50Plus
In 2014, Krol returned to the House for 50Plus, initially as a replacement for a sick Member of Parliament and later as a permanent Member of Parliament. In 2017, Krol led 50Plus to four seats in the elections. In 2020 he left 50Plus due to a lingering internal conflict.
In the parliamentary elections in 2021, Krol did not win any seats with his own List Henk Krol. Now Krol is making a new attempt with Van Haga’s party.
Krol says in a press release that he wants to work for the elderly and their pensions. Van Haga calls Krol “the voice of the forgotten elderly in the Netherlands”.
