In the first episode we saw how the other half of Dimitri Vegas (39) set her sights on a baby shower and how she ‘cleaned’ her house with sage. Immediately afterwards, the reactions were devastating, and that has not escaped Anouk herself.

Not only experts and reviewers, but also viewers express their dissatisfaction with ‘Anouk Matton Privé’. Weekly magazine HUMO gave the series a zero-star review, according to De Morgen the new reality series is “the torture chamber of contemporary Flemish TV” and also our TV reviewer noted that he had “provided Matton’s troubles for the time being” spiritual coach-wise from his digicorder.”

Also on Twitter is the search for a positive message in the sea of negative comments: “How otherworldly can you be?”, someone wondered. Also: “Who is watching this nonsense anyway?” and “This is the new low point of the Flemish media.”

“Very divided”
All reactions have not escaped Anouk herself, she confesses in the radio studio of Qmusic. At the start of the program, she noted that she just hoped that people would find her a bit more sympathetic. “People have the wrong idea of me. They only think of the lifestyle of the rich and famous, that everything is roses and moonshine with us. But that is not a reflection of the real me.”

“Those reactions were very divided, if I have to be honest,” she says now. “I have received a lot of positive messages in which people say that they are shocked by me, that they think I am a warm and sympathetic person. But if I have to believe the press, I will be razed to the ground.”

Still, all the comments are really cutting in: “I admit that it’s hard to read such things about yourself. But on the other hand, there are also a lot of people I don’t know who send me praising compliments. So I try to focus on that.”
