Rhine-Ruhr. Next Monday and Tuesday (October 19 and October 20, 2020) the United Service Union (ver.di) in North Rhine-Westphalia is calling on employees of local public transport companies to go on warning strikes all day. The background to this is the ongoing negotiations on the local transport collective bargaining agreement in NRW with the municipal employers’ association (KAV NW). In the second round of negotiations, on October 9, 2020 in Bochum, there was no adequate rapprochement either. The union expects once again extensive effects in the driving service.
The transport companies in Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Mülheim, Essen, Oberhausen and in the Circle Cleves and Wesel informed their passengers on their homepages and in press releases about the possible effects of the renewed warning strike.
Rheinbahn is on strike again
Düsseldorf. The unions have for Monday, October 19th, warning strikes announced again. All metro, tram and all bus routes the Rheinbahn cannot operate all day, the Rheinbahn cannot offer any traffic. The entire network of the Rheinbahn is affected, i.e. the city of Düsseldorf, the district of Mettmann, the city of Meerbusch and the connections to Duisburg, Krefeld, Neuss and Ratingen. The customer centers remain closed, the mobility guarantee and the extended guarantee no longer apply.
“We very much regret the repeated failures and the consequences for our passengers. The fourth warning strike in quick succession, although the negotiations are ongoing – we have absolutely no understanding of this in the current situation, ”said Klaus Klar, CEO and Labor Director of Rheinbahn.
Due to the corona pandemic, Rheinbahn is not setting up a special timetable for individual lines. Rheinbahn recommends finding out about alternatives to underground trains, trams and buses in good time and – if possible – switching to the S-Bahn and regional trains operated by the railway companies.
Current information is available at www.rheinbahn.de/ strike and facebook.com/rheinbahn. Customers can also get information around the clock under the “Smart Number” 01806. 50 40 30 (20 cents per call from German landlines, 60 cents per call from cellular networks).
