I have read with sadness and indignation, more than with perplexity, the statement from Juan Alberto Fuentes Knight, where he reports on his exile. The sadness is for him and the family who repeats pain already experienced, such as the vile murder of his father, Alberto Fuentes Mohr, one of the martyrs of this eternal struggle for the dignity of the country in another of the most repressive times of the 80’s. The reasons, as he well points out, caused by the same filth of the members of the regime that keep the country mired in misery kidnapped.
But that sadness and indignation is also for Guatemala and its good people, for that historical curse that condemns it to the suffering of poverty and all its terminal ills.
Unfortunately, the cancer of corruption, impudence and looting advances making enemies of those traitorous, servile citizens sold for a few coins, which will never be many compared to the damage caused, generation after generation, as history will remember them.
Hope remains, as Juan Alberto says, in the citizen conscience and the youth avid for changes and a new spring.
