Another traditional Glarus company goes bankrupt due to corona crisis

Another bad news from the traditional Glarus textile industry. The silk printing company Mitloedi Textildruck AG went bankrupt last week. The silk printer, over 80 years old, emerged from the Trümpy fabric printing company in Mitlödi, founded in 1840. It is famous for its Glarus Tüechli. The loss of the 33 jobs and all the know-how is depressing, the company said.

At the end of April, the 186-year-old Jenny Fabrics AG in Ziegelbrücke GL announced the end of textile production. All 96 employees lose their jobs. Both traditional companies have long suffered from the strong Swiss franc. The corona crisis now led to a massive drop in orders. Mitloedi textile printing lacked the necessary resources to survive the crisis, writes the company’s management.
