The company’s decision comes after the British government put Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich on the sanctions list as a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“Under the current circumstances, we have made the decision to stop our marketing and communication activities with the club for the time being,” the company wrote in a statement.
Hyundai has been the club’s official car sponsor since 2018 and has its name on Chelsea’s jerseys.
Shortly after the British government’s sanction decision against Abramovich, Tre also resigned as the club’s official shirt sponsor, a contract which according to the Evening Standard newspaper is worth the equivalent of just over SEK 500 million per year.
