Slovak hockey representative Pavol Regenda was the only Slovak in action in Sunday’s preparatory matches in the overseas NHL before the start of the 2022/2023 season, in his fourth game with the Anaheim Ducks shirt he did not score for first time.

His compatriot Marián Studenič was signed by the Dallas Stars on the unsecured player’s waiver list, another Slovakian forward Maxim Čajkovič was sent by the Tampa Bay Lightning to the lower AHL.

Regnda played 11:16 minutes in Anaheim’s 1-2 loss to the Los Angeles Kings, including more than three minutes of power play. He gave away a point and received a minor penalty for the cut. He is the most productive of the 14 Slovaks in training so far, with two goals and an assist. Tomáš Tatar (New Jersey Devils) scored twice in two duels, Miloš Kelemen (Arizona Coyotes) scored once in three fights. After the assist, defenders Samuel Kňažko (Columbus Blue Jackets) and Martin Fehérváry (Washington Capitals) scored.

After Richard Pánik (New York Islanders), 23-year-old striker Studenič is also on the waiver list, within 24 hours he can be acquired for free by the remaining 31 profiling teams. In preparation, he played two games for the “stars” in which he didn’t score and scored two more points. Dallas acquired him from New Jersey last season from the waiver list, played for him in 16 regular-season duels with one goal and two assists. He also played in four games of the other playoffs and signed a two-year one-year contract with the Stars in the summer.

Defender Erik Černák no longer has his countryman in the “Bleskov” organization, 21-year-old Čajkovič did not play a single match for Tampa Bay during his retirement. At the previous tournament of hopes in Raleigh, USA, he played three games in which he scored once. The Lightning sent him to the reserve team of Syracuse Crunch (AHL), for which he played 20 duels in the 2021/2022 season, scoring 6 points (3 + 3). The Florida club enlisted him in 2019 from 89th place, but he hasn’t played in the NHL yet.
