Another six-cylinder is leaving the Czech market. After just five years, the electric car industry is breaking free

There are (not only) fewer and fewer full-displacement engines and five or more cylinders on the Czech market. Another successful V6 will disappear at the end of this year.

The automaker Kia presented a flagship sedan Sting in 2017, the same year it was available on the Czech market. The basis was four-cylinder turbo petrol and diesel engines, but a 3.3-liter six-cylinder engine was placed on top of the engine. Modernization three years later reduced the range of aggregates. Despite the emission limits, only one remained on offer: Surprisingly, a six-cylinder! Why not, in the Czech Republic alone, eighty percent of customers have achieved it.

However, after six years, the story of the six-cylinder (and the whole Stinger) is coming to an end. The combination of a twin-turbo V6, automatic transmission and all-wheel drive, capable of reaching 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, will soon clear the field of electric cars. Kia plans to close customer orders for the Stinger GT by the end of this year. Then you have the last few days to order without going overboard.

Starting in 2023, the electric Kia EV6 GT will take over as the flagship model of the Korean automaker. This is certainly not an uninteresting car: two electric motors deliver a system output of 430 kW and 740 Nm of torque! The battery has a capacity of 77.4 kWh and a range of 424 km. Thanks to the on-board 800V technology, the car can be recharged from 10 to 80% in just eighteen minutes at the quick charger. However, acceleration is even more respectable – the sharp “six” can do it from standstill to 100 km/h in 3.5 seconds. And it continues quietly at 260 km/h. Impressive, but we’ll still be a little sad after the six-cylinder.

Compared to the civilian EV6, the GT also has a modified chassis, a powerful brake system and optimized steering. “The EV6 GT is the ideal car to take over the Stinger model in the Czech Republic. The brand’s strategic plan has a strong focus on electrification and plans to offer 14 new electric cars worldwide by 2027. The The EV6 GT is an important part of this plan and the new flagship for Kia.” says Aleš Barna, CEO of Kia Czech. Sales of the powerful Korean electric car kicked off here in early October and the automaker has already logged 50 customer orders. So good luck!
