Another sharp increase in the number of corona infections in Aruba Abroad

The government advises everyone to wear a mask in public space, when a distance of 1.5 meters cannot be kept. A list of clubs and shops has been released where possible infections have occurred. People who have visited any of the occasions in the past fourteen days are asked to voluntarily quarantine.

The Aruban government wants to do everything it can to prevent further spread. But experts fear that many more people have already been infected. Curaçao has closed its borders with neighboring island Aruba.

The rapid increase in the number of corona infections in Aruba is creating a tense situation on the island. For example, care and retirement homes immediately decided not to allow visitors for the time being. Aruban media further report that this week many people had themselves tested at private laboratories.

Prime Minister Evelyn Wever-Croes of Aruba has immediately decided on Wednesday evening (local time) that bars and nightclubs on the island may no longer be open for the time being. Bonaire, like Curaçao, has halted direct air traffic between the two countries.
