Another series of earthquakes in Romania tonight – Balkans

A new series of strong earthquakes hit Romania overnight. Again, the epicenter is around Turnu Severin in the southwestern part of the country and about 110 km from the border with Bulgaria.

The strongest earthquake had a magnitude of 4.2 on the Richter scale and struck around 3 a.m., according to data from the European Seismological Center. About an hour ago, there was another earthquake with a magnitude of 3.4 on the Richter scale.

A seismologist from BAS revealed more details about the strong earthquake in Romania

The epicenter of the new tremors is the same as on Tuesday, when our northern neighbor was hit by a 5.5. And the earthquake was felt in many parts of Bulgaria, including Sofia.

Seismologists reassure that this is not the focus in Vranca, where some of the most destructive earthquakes in the region come from.
