Another sailing ship with Albanians intercepted, two Ukrainians arrested

The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee has intercepted a sailing yacht in the North Sea near Goeree-Overflakkee, with eleven Albanians on board. They were hidden in the hold during the check, which indicates people smuggling. The two Ukrainian skippers have been arrested.

A spokesman says he can say little about the conditions on the ship and the destination of the Albanians. They may have been on their way to the United Kingdom.

Sailing ships seem to be increasingly used for people smuggling. The Marechaussee has intercepted several yachts off the Dutch coast in recent months. Start this month a large number of Albanians were also taken from a sailing yacht. Two Ukrainians were also arrested at that time.
