Never before has more than $1 million been bid for a game cartridge, reports auction house Heritage Auctions.
The previous record was only two days old. A sealed copy of The Legend of Zelda, made for the old Nintendo NES console, was auctioned on Friday for $870,000.
Heritage Auctions, which handled both sales, has not disclosed the identity of the new owners.

Collectors
Until a few days ago, the record for an old game auction was $660,000 for a 1986 Super Mario Bros. cartridge.
Old games have become increasingly popular among collectors in recent years, driving up prices for old-school game consoles and cartridges at auctions.
