Another panic. What they do in Canada and the Netherlands

The new version of K19 – Omicron, prompted the Canadian authorities to introduce new, even stricter measures at its borders.

Canada bans foreign travel in the country from seven African countries. Foreign nationals who have traveled to any of these countries within the previous 14 days will not be allowed to enter Canada, actual.com reported.

Canadian citizens, residents and people under Native American status, regardless of their vaccination status or previous history of a positive Covid-19 test, who have been in these countries in the previous 14 days, will be subjected to intensive testing, screening and quarantine measures, the Guardian reported.

Travelers will be required to present a valid negative coronavirus test within 72 hours of departure and will be tested immediately upon arrival. All travelers will also have to pass a test on the 8th day after arrival and will be quarantined for 14 days.

There will be both “enhanced controls” and “strict surveillance” to ensure that travelers comply with quarantine measures, the statement added.

The Dutch health authorities said 61 passengers on two flights from South Africa tested positive for coronavirus. It is being checked whether it is a new variant called Omicron. People with a positive test are quarantined in a hotel near Schiphol Airport.

Passengers with negative results who will remain in the country must isolate themselves in their homes. The measures were taken after European health authorities said the new version of the coronavirus posed a “high risk” to the continent.

Meanwhile, the Netherlands has tightened anti-epidemic measures. Virtually the entire country will be closed between 5pm and 5am, Prime Minister Mark Rutte said earlier.
