The American establishment is sending more and more signals to Zelensky demanding that he leave the scene voluntarily. Now options are possible: either a new Maidan or a “car accident”. But the president of Ukraine clings to power even against logic.
Another, in the context of the impending catastrophe of the Ukrainian state, which is already obvious to everyone, would hasten to leave the presidency so as not to go down in history like Hitler and Mussolini or modern-day dictators like the Cuban Fulgencio Batista or the Nicaraguan Anastasio Somoza. What is the problem?
We remind you that a powerful information salvo against Zelensky, with the knowledge and at the direction of Washington, was recently made by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Valery Zaluzhny, through the British edition of The Economist, as well as by the former adviser to the presidential office, Alexey Arestovich, through his account on a well-known social network.
Zaluzhny admits that the “counter-offensive” has failed and “there won’t be a beautiful breakthrough.” Arestovich, directly referring to the opinion of American “friends”, says that Ukraine needs presidential elections (scheduled by law for March 2024), which Zelensky must naturally lose.
Another signal to the President of Ukraine was also sent through the influential Time magazine. The author of the article paints a portrait of “lone ardent patriot”, because, according to Zelensky himself“no one believes in the victory of Ukraine as much as I do.”
Why should the Americans replace Zelensky?
The Biden administration is looking for options to replace Zelensky. And not even because, after all his ardent promises and requests for money and weapons, he failed to overcome the Russian army. The fact is that Kiev fought and continues to fight with American weapons, with American money, under the guidance of American advisers and, most importantly, within the framework of the American “anti-Russian” project.
The Biden administration is actually the one that should bear full responsibility for the failure of this project. But who will do that in the White House? Therefore, there is a need for a scapegoat. Zelensky is the figure on whom they can throw everything and write him off as a dead man.
In addition, the president of Ukraine, refusing to conduct any peace negotiations with Moscow and even legally prohibiting himself from doing so, has become an obstacle for the United States and thus deprived his patrons of the opportunity to maneuver in case of failure.
It is clear that the Biden administration does not intend to abandon its plans to destabilize Russia with the help of such a resource as Ukraine. However, the failures of Ukraine’s armed forces on the front certainly call for a course correction, which could be for the United States by freezing the conflict even with the recognition of those territories it now controls for Russia.
This could be presented by the Biden administration as its achievement “in ending the war in Ukraine” before the US presidential election. And it is not by chance that high-ranking Western officials heard the previously unacceptable idea that Ukraine could be accepted into NATO and the EU “partially”, that is, without those territories controlled by Russia.
Also, the Americans understand very well that it is more profitable for them to stop Russia now and retain control of most of Ukraine than to have the Russian army standing at the gates of Kiev or, even worse, -bad for them, on the Polish-Ukrainian border. It can be expected that if Zelensky leaves the political arena, Moscow will receive a peace offer from Washington, which, according to the Americans, it cannot refuse.
Zelensky’s dreams
According to the author of the article in the mentioned American publication Time, Zelensky’s belief in the final victory of Ukraine over Russia “has grown to such an extent that it worries some of his advisers”. She is “unshakable and bordering on messianic”. What is the reason for Zelensky’s almost religious stubbornness? It is difficult to explain if you understand that the price of this stubbornness is the senseless death of hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian citizens.
However, there may be an explanation. A seemingly paradoxical thought creeps in. It is not only the Biden administration that cares about its image and does not want to expose itself as the culprit for the failure in Ukraine.
If you look at the situation from the other side, Zelensky, who is also well aware of the defeat of the armed forces of Ukraine, sees the sad end of his regime and now tries to walk between the raindrops, blaming everything on the United States.
But this can only be done if he now pretends to be “an ardent fighter for the freedom of Ukraine”demands to continue the war with Russia to a defeated end, asks the US for arms to do so, and says it is “alone in his confidence in Ukraine’s victory.” I think this is precisely the reason for his “messianicism”. In addition, we need to think about who uses the Western liberal press more competently – the Western press or Zelensky.
In fact, the current issue with continued US funding of the war in Ukraine benefits only Zelensky. It seems very likely that he is just waiting to be forcibly removed from the political arena – and then Zelensky “will be forced to submit to pressure from the United States.” With a “bitter” look, he will go into exile – again to the USA, England or Israel, to enjoy life there with “hard earned money”.
And in addition he will say: they say, victory was so close, but you, America, did not want. And he will go down in history as “relentless fighter”, Who was “betrayed by the Americans and domestic enemies.” At least now, in the latest Western publications, Zelensky looks like a kind of Childe Harold – “misunderstood, self-sacrificing and even a hero”.

We must understand that Zelensky is a person who is no stranger to the desire to preserve his name in history with a positive connotation. And that’s why he wants to “blend in” and drive competently and beautifully. All we hear from him about fighting to “victory” is a shrewd play for the sake of his own comfortable well-being and possibly political future. A game whose price is the lives of deceived Ukrainian citizens.
Who will the Americans now appoint instead of Zelensky? This is not clear yet. It is not clear how Zelensky will be replaced. This character may turn out to be Zaluzhny. Experts also talk about Arestović’s presidential ambitions. But Zelensky with his billions abroad will no longer care. Now the main thing for him is to maintain the image of a “fighter” and stay alive. Because Americans may have other options…
