Another look: 4GB on the Radeon RX 6500 XT will also be an advantage

Yesterday, I described the advent of the Radeon RX 6500 XT as a continuing misery, even in the sense that it is a card offering only 4 GB of memory, while the 8GB version is not going to, which, given its predecessors, does not seem like a development we should applaud. . But there’s also the issue of performance, which also doesn’t look great yet, given the suggested retail price of $ 199.

But we can have a different view of the whole thing. It is true that inflation, which is raising the price of goods, is advancing around the world, and it is so understandable that AMD is essentially becoming more expensive. For two hundred dollars we used to offer a 4GB version of the card, but it was a Radeon RX 580 and later it was a Radeon RX 5500 XT, but on the contrary with 8 GB of memory. You could say that the Radeon RX 6500 XT will come on the market at the same inflated price, so AMD probably wants something from that as well.

But what about those 4 GB? Under normal circumstances, it would simply and simply be a failure, because such a buffer is simply low today, but of course not always and under all circumstances. We can hide and set lower details, or of course play games that will be enough for 4 GB, after all, the RX 6500 XT is the current desktop low-end generation RDNA 2 and probably will remain so. AMD is preparing an even weaker Radeon RX 6400 with also 4 GB of memory, but it will only be offered to OEMs.

But the point is that 4 GB is not enough for Etherea mining and despite this limitation, the train no longer runs, so we can forget about mining this cryptocurrency and possibly take a thank you for another coin, such as Ethereum Classic, RavenCoin or others, but it will also mean lower profits. In short and well, the Radeon RX 6500 XT will be a little interesting card for miners, and due to the absence of the 8GB version, the question hung whether it was not even an intention of AMD.

Brad Chacos z PCWorldu This is exactly what Lisa Su herself and Radeon Vice President Laura Smith asked exactly after yesterday’s presentation. And they confirmed that AMD really thought that the card, thanks to its 4 GB of memory, would be less interesting for miners, but at the same time that it could run most AAA games. Some bad language could call this an ad hoc explanation they came up with at AMD after reading some of the reactions to their new Radeon RX 6400. But we will believe that for AMD it was more of a win-win. a solution for herself and for the players. The players get to the cards they need better and AMD itself doesn’t even have to try too hard to make his new Radeon really good. The only sad thing is that there was no better way to get the cards into the game sets.
