Another IS woman wants to go home – NRK Norway – Overview of news from different parts of the country

At least 11 women traveled from Norway to Syria. Six of these have been found by Aftenposten and NRK. The rest are presumed dead, missing or in an unknown place.

Five of the women described have Norwegian citizenship:

  • Aisha Shazadi Kausar (28) from Bærum with one child. Kausar ble moved to the camp Al Roj this spring. Has previously told Aftenposten that she wants to return to Norway, but preferably Pakistan. In October, she told NRK that she regretted that she had asked the Norwegian authorities for help. May 18, 2021, Aftenposten reported that she wanted help from the Norwegian authorities.
  • Woman (21) from Bærum with one child in the camp Al Hol. Has told Aftenposten that she wants to return to Norway, but has not asked the Norwegian authorities for assistance. She does not want to distance herself from IS.
  • Woman (25) from Bærum in Al Hol with two children. Has also said that she wants to go to Norway with the children, but has not asked the Norwegian authorities for assistance.
  • Female (32) from Levanger. The woman is childless. She refers to the time with the terrorist group IS as it is best in his life. The woman is in Al Hol.
  • This means that there are a total of four Norwegian children in the camps.
  • In addition, there is a woman Norwegian residence permit, but with Russian citizenship, in Al Hol. The woman has three children.

It is not known whether any men with Norwegian citizenship have been imprisoned in Syria or Iraq.

In January 2020, a woman from Oslo with two children was brought home to Norway. In an interview with NRK in March 2019, she said that she had a strong desire to return to Norway.
