The Slovak prosecutor filed a charge against five people, including the controversial businessman Marian Kočner, in the case of the preparation of unfinished murders of prosecutors and a lawyer. With reference to the statement of the General Prosecutor’s Office, it was written on Tuesday by the Aktuality.sk portal. Kočner is currently serving a long prison sentence for forging bills of exchange. He is also accused of ordering the murder of Slovak journalist Ján Kuciak.
In the past, the defendants were to prepare for the murder of former Special Prosecutor and current Attorney General Maroš Žilinka, as well as a lawyer, former Minister of the Interior and Justice, the current head of the elite prosecutor’s office, Daniel Lipšic, and then Deputy Attorney General Peter Šufliarský.
Along with Kočner, his acquaintance Alena Zsuzsová also faces charges in the case. Last year, the court of first instance acquitted the couple of charges in the case of the murder of journalist Ján Kuciak, but this verdict was overturned by the Supreme Court in June this year. Last year, Zsuzs was yet found guilty of mediating another murder.
According to available information, Attorney General Žilinka had previously ordered the prosecution of Kočner in the case of tax fraud. Kočner was in a dispute with Lipšice for a long time. According to the leaked communication, Kočner also complained about Šufliarský, who resigned from the position of head of the prosecutor’s office the year before, when his previous contacts with Kočner were revealed.
