Another grenade on fire found in Twente

A grenade from the Second World War was found in Twente for the second day in a row. A 15-year-old boy found it explosive when he was magnet fishing in Enschede. RTV Oost writes that the grenade was on fire when the boy found it.

The boy immediately called the police after his find. “This boy has acted excellently,” said police chief Harrie Sikkenga the broadcaster.

Yesterday, in a nature reserve close to the Twente village of De Lutte, a sharpened grenade was found. Like this one from Enschede, it was a World War II grenade. It was detonated in a safe place near Enschede.

The Explosives Ordnance Disposal Service Defense (EOD) will detonate the ‘new’ grenade in the same place tonight. “This is really pure coincidence,” said Sikkenga.
