Another Greenpeace action in the Baltic against oil tankers

For the second day in a row, Greenpeace activists have protested in the Baltic Sea against oil tankers from Russia. In kayaks and small boats they passed some tankers and held up banners. According to the organization, the activists came from Scandinavia, Germany and the Netherlands.

“While the people of Ukraine are suffering and the people of Russia are taking to the streets for peace, Putin’s oil and gas is still reaching European ports and filling his war chest,” said Mads Flarup Christensen, Greenpeace’s director for the northern countries.

Greenpeace counted in their own words since the war in Ukraine started more than three weeks ago, 189 supertankers have left Russia full of oil and gas. Of these, 88 had a European destination.

“If Europe wants to stand up for peace, we must also immediately stop importing Russian oil and gas and quickly phase out all fossil fuels,” said a Swedish Greenpeace activist.
