A few days ago we spoke with Uriel Barros, the San Lorenzo de Almagro manager in charge of the basketball team, and he told us that they were working on the debts (large debts) that they found when they arrived at the club. The biggest job during the break was to solve this issue, make payment plans and get FIBA to lift the ban so they can compete in the next season of the National League.
Looking ahead to the next season of the National League, San Lorenzo has so far only confirmed Leo Costa as coach and the technical team that worked during 2023/24. But, despite FIBA’s disqualification, Boedo’s team began to move to put together the squad for 2024/25, although they still have no official confirmations, precisely for the same reason from the parent entity.
Everything seems to indicate that they will make a stellar return. Nicolás Aguirre will once again wear the San Lorenzo shirt. Penka played between 2015/16 and 2020/21 in Boedo and in that period won a large number of titles, including five editions of the National League. They also won a Super 4, the 2018 Super Cup and the 2019 Super 20 and, on the international level, two Leagues of the Americas.
In addition to Penka, San Lorenzo had arranged for the continuity of Lucas Pérez, Federico Grun, Iván Basualdo and Sebastián Lugo, all of whom were in the National League last season.
