Flashback may not have as cult status as Prince of Persia, however, is definitely one of the most memorable bouncers from the early 1990s. As in the aforementioned Prince, all the animations were processed using the rotoscopy technique (manual redrawing of film frames) and looked absolutely fantastic for their time. Today, of course, it’s worse, but thanks to the slightly restored graphics, you can still watch the game without bleeding your eyes.
Another great improvement of the almost 30-year-old game is the rewind function, which at least slightly reduces the otherwise somewhat overburdened difficulty (although it was common at the time). In addition to quick reflexes, get ready to solve puzzles and wander on large levels.
The story is about a scientist who was abducted by aliens to an alien planet and now has to go back to his family. You can add it to your library for free in the GOG store (link), then you will stay forever. Just be careful, you only have time until Thursday, June 23.
The game once received an indirect sequel Fade to Black, and this year the official duo, under which the original author Paul Cuisset himself will sign, should also be released.
