Another eruption! Mount Merapi spew a long stream of hot lava.
Mount Merapi on Java Island, Indonesia One of the most active volcanoes in the world. An eruption spewed a stream of red lava out of the crater on Friday morning, the Indonesian Geological Agency said. Observe the lava flows seven times from the crater, which flows 700 meters to the southwest.
The volcano warning has not yet been adjusted from the second highest warning level that has been enacted since last November. But villagers in the vicinity were warned to avoid getting close to the area within a five-kilometer radius, as well as the dangers of lava streams and fly ash debris.
The most recent volcano Merapi eruption occurred in 2010, killing more than 300 people and causing an estimated 280,000 people to evacuate.
