Three days after massive air raid on 16… Ukrainian forces ‘shoot down 30 out of 35 planes’
The Associated Press and AFP reported that Russia carried out another drone strike in various parts of Ukraine, including the capital Kiiu, on the 19th (local time).
Kiiwu authorities announced on Telegram that about 20 Iranian-made drones were spotted in the capital in the early hours of the morning, of which at least 15 were shot down.
Kieu Governor Oleksi Kuleva said some infrastructure and residential buildings were damaged and at least two people were injured.
Chiuu Mayor Vitaly Klitschko said explosions were heard in two parts of the city and emergency services were called to the scene.
He added that workers are working to get electricity and heating back on track.
Ukrainian energy company DTEK said the attack would inevitably cause emergency power outages in Kiiu.
The attack occurred at dawn in sub-zero weather and at around 2:00 an air raid warning began to sound.
Recently, Russia has been carrying out airstrikes mostly in the dark pre-dawn hours to avoid Ukrainian air defenses.
The Ukrainian Air Force said on Monday it had shot down 30 of at least 35 self-destructing drones launched by Russia from eastern Azo Sea towards Ukraine.
Furthermore, he explained that the intercept rate against self-destructing missiles and drones is increasing.
The attack comes three days after Russia launched at least 76 rocket attacks on the 16th, killing three people and cutting off electricity and water supplies in many parts of Ukraine.
On the 17th, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in an address to the nation that Russia had launched more than 4,000 missiles against Ukraine since the beginning of the war.
