The routes of Slavia and Rangers Glasgow are very similar. Thursday’s opponent stitched in the European League is experiencing a similar season and, like Slavia, the traditional Scottish club managed to get back to the top of the domestic league after years in the dark.
Even eight years ago, after the financial collapse, the famous Scottish club was in the fourth Scottish League, where it descended administratively after devastating management. After four years, however, he scrambled back to the Premiership and celebrated his historically 55th league title at the weekend after ten years.
Rangers’ success is coached by coach Steven Gerrard. After the end of his career, the player legend Liverpool came to training and after three years “The Gers” triumphed. At the same time, Gerrard managed to dominate the league with modern football without a single defeat and at the same time be successful with the team on the European scene.
It is reminiscent of Jindřich Trpišovský’s journey in Slavia. Thanks to the unprecedentedly generous owners of the club, Slavia also managed to get on the map of Europe and at the same time sovereignly dominate the Czech league. At the same time, in the same season as the Rangers scrambled from the third Scottish league, Slavia escaped in the last league round and had its own financial problems on its neck.
“I’m really looking forward to meeting Gerrard. I watched Liverpool lead the Champions League victory, the final in Istanbul was unforgettable,” Trpišovský recalls in 2005. After the sixth home defeat of Liverpool in a row in the current Premier League season, it was even considered that Gerrard could replace Jürgen Klopp at Anfield. But coach Glagow refused.
“He is a huge personality, his skills not only football but also leadership off the field were huge. He is one of my favorite players from the football youth,” says Trpišovský meeting with his coaching partner, who is five years younger.
Slavia, like the Rangers, has not lost in the league this year. Both teams are in excellent form before the opening round of the European League. “Stitching in the European League has not been lost at home yet. They are definitely not going to the match as an outsider, as was the case in the duel with the English Leicester,” points out Fortuny expert Roman Kovařík.
The Rangers should also play cards before the duel, so that the Rangers will not be complete. Despite being infected with coronavirus, Slavists should not miss anyone from the basic set.
“In addition, the guests are complete, Balogun is in the card penalty, the Tavenier – Roofe pair, which is one of the most dangerous, has health problems,” Kovařík lists the losses on the Scottish side.
Slavia made her way to advance through Leicester, when she managed the home match with a goalless draw and decided only in England. On the other hand, the Rangers advanced through Antwerp thanks to two wins with a total score of 9: 5. However, Trpišovský will want to avoid the shootout.
“If we play the first match in Europe at home with such good teams, you have to put more emphasis on defense in those matches. In these matches it is difficult for Czech teams to win a shootout. When you see a goal summary for teams like Rangers or Leicester, the moment they get space, quite uncompromising, “warns Trpišovský.
As before the 16th final with Leicester, Slavia has now managed to anger the opponent’s fans. The Scottish version of The Sun noticed the words of midfielder Jakub Hromada. “The boys in the cabin wanted a bigger name. Manchester United, Arsenal or AC Milan,” the Slovak representative was quoted as saying.
Scottish fans, of course, took Hromad’s words to heart and the spark was ignited, although in the following sentences he highlighted the quality of the opponent. Some of the commentators on the article threaten to go to Prague that Slavia only knows what a Scottish champion is. The next part hopes that Stitching Rangers will underestimate.
Praguers are definitely waiting for a tricky double match. They played against Leicester at the end of February as clear outsiders, but they do not have such a role against the Scots. “Fortuna’s bookmakers favor Rangers FC slightly at 1.8, but bettors have a different opinion. Slavia’s win at 2.45 in the first match in Eden contains 75% of tickets, a very similar number is also bet towards the Czech team’s progress. in a 2: 1 course, “adds Kovařík.
