Another cup sensation on the Pfannenstiel – Unihockey.ch

The Kirchwies in Egg in the Zurich Oberland is not a good place for hosting clubs – especially in the cup and especially in the months between June and September. A year ago, the UHC Pfannenstiel, which was still in the first league, threw the NLB teams Lok Reinach and Sarganserland out of the cup. Pfanni is now back in the NLB and threw the Basel Regio UPL team on Saturday night in front of almost 300 fans.

The game started very lively, with five goals to be celebrated in the third start. The home side took the lead 1-0, 2-1 and 3-2 one after the other, with Mendelin and Lundgren equalizing for the visitors. After a 4-2 victory for Pfanni in the 43rd minute, the north-west of Switzerland woke up and pushed the accelerator hard – successfully. Three Basel goals within three minutes and 18 seconds turned things around and UBR took the lead for the first time in this game. But Pfannenstiel’s team knew how to react and Florian Niederöst’s hour had come. The game clock showed 56:00 and 57:19 when the 28-year-old struck twice. Basel immediately replaced the goalkeeper with an extra field player, but Pfanni saved the lead in time and once again eliminated a team from a higher league.

14 games on Sunday
There were no particular surprises to report in the remaining five games; the team from the major league was always there. In addition to the B league team Ad Astra Obwalden, which was 7:2 ahead in Appenzell after 40 minutes and won 8:4, Olten Zofingen, Bülach Floorball and the second division team Sursee 86 also advanced. The score between Bülach and Glattal was surprisingly 2-2 after 40 minutes before the favorite won by four goals in the last third.

On Sunday evening, when the remaining 14 cup matches have been played, 15 of 16 matches in the next round have been decided – only Pfanni has to be patient. The next challenger to the fear of the Zurich Oberland cup will only be determined next Saturday between Sarganserland and Bassersdorf Nürensdorf. In September, the NLB-promoted team will have to compete away again.
